History: The Sandpoint Cathedral

A fire that destroys a town’s only cathedral mere months after a whole bunch of awful/evil stuff happens? I can’t help but feel like the two could be connected, so I did a bit of research. Here’s what I found:

The Sandpoint Cathedral‘s location served as a holy place well before any building was built. A series of seven stones present at the site had long held importance to the followers of Desna, who believe(d) they represent the seven towers of their goddess’s palace.

When initially established (still unclear as to the exact date), the Sandpoint Chapel served as a center of worship for six deities; individual shrines were dedicated to Desna, Abadar, Sarenrae, Shelyn, Gozreh, and Erastil. Care of the site fell to a priest by the name of Ezakien Tobyn and his acolytes. However, when the chapel burned in 4702 AR, Father Tobyn lost his life in the blaze.

Determined to see Sandpoint recover and move on from the Late Unpleasantness, mayor Kendra Deverin began a movement to rebuild the chapel and even improve upon its original design. The result will be an impressive structure boasting shrines devoted to the same six deities venerated in the original building. This multi-denominational Cathedral will be run by one Abstalar Zantua
(a priest of Desna), and if all goes as planned its dedication will happen this year and will coincide with the Swallowtail Festival.
