So I’ll definitely head back to Magnimar – but not anytime soon, that’s for sure. Who the hell do the Sczarni think they a Okay, well, that’s easy. They think they’re an organized crime syndicate because they most certainly *are* an organized crime syndicate. But I’m gonna go ahead and add “a bunch of jealous bastards who wanna horn in on anyone with any real talent making any real money” to that description. Okay so *fine* that’s basically what an organized crime syndicate is.
Sheesh. Thank Desna for that makeup and wardrobe room. There’s no way I would’ve made it outta the Dryad – much less the city – in one piece otherwise. And let that be the last time I ever have to spend the entirety of a long carriage ride in character as “The Lady Esmerelda Darkwing.” Actually, I think I’m gonna have to retire that character for good. Too recognizable now. Damn.
But even with all that oh my *gods* was it ever worth it! Four nights in a row to a packed house! That dancer who worked with me the last night — I wish I knew who she was. I hope she got the money I left for her with the club owner.
I guess it’s no wonder that last show attracted the attention of the Sczarni. The place was roaring! I’ve never had so many coins tossed up to me all in one show! The first coin was the best, though. I can still see it glinting in the light, spinning through the air in that perfect arc as if time itself had slowed … and the timing of the catch was perfect! Hello, little lucky charm! I’ll spend or save the rest, but that one’s never leaving me.
